Jason serves as OPI’s Deputy Director of Analytics. Along with advancing the team’s data infrastructure and analytic capabilities, Jason manages the Data Fellows Program.
Jason came to data and analytics through the natural sciences, earning his MSc from Ghent University and PhD from Florida International University studying underwater microbes and their effect on their environment. He has since applied his technical and project management skills at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science developing science communication projects with the National Park Service as well as Choptank Transport where he created and built the analytics team, analytics infrastructure, and evangelized a data-driven, scientific approach to decision-making. More recently, Jason built the data management and reporting ecosystem for the Mayor’s Office of Recovery Programs, making progress and financial reporting on Baltimore City’s ARPA allocation more accurate and transparent, while less labor intensive.
Jason values cross-collaboration with city agencies and local organizations to improve Baltimore’s city services and is an advocate for open-source coding and open data wherever possible. He’s currently renovating his house in Butchers Hill.
